For 2017 Maserati is offering a limited run of 400 GranTurismo and GranCabrio Sport Special Edition versions. The special edition coupe will incorporate Extracampionario Grigio Lava paint while the convertibles will be dressed with the new Rosso Italiano three layer exterior paint; bringing Maserati's heritage to life by commemorating the same brilliant red of Fangio's 1957 Formula One 250F. Maserati has equipped MC-design 20" alloy wheels featuring a glossy black finish and center caps boasting the exclusive special edition logo. Maserati has wrapped the special edition interior with Poltrona Frau Leather and Alcantara leather with 4 different stitching combinations. The door sills feature a carbon fiber Special Edition logos while the center console cup holders are wrapped in a sleek carbon fiber with a commemorative special edition placard, displaying anniversary dates of 1957-2017 and a unique number. Maserati GranTurismo is offered in either coupe or convertible version, which come in Sport, MC and Centennial trims. All models are powered by a 454-horsepower 4.7L hand-built V8 engine, which makes 384 pound-feet of torque. The unit is mated to a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission with both manual and sport modes. Sport mode reduces shift times by about 50 percent. Maserati claims the GranTurismo will hit 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 185 mph. The GranTurismo Sport features Maserati's adjustable Skyhook suspension with active dampers, which combines reasonably good ride comfort with the firmness and response you'd expect from a performance car. The MC and Centennial get a conventional suspension that in effect has firmer springs, as well as a thicker front anti-roll bar, though Skyhook is optional. Inside, the MC also gets larger shift paddles alongside the steering wheel. The MC also gets special front and rear fascias and aero bodywork (reducing downforce at high speed), wider fenders and a unique hood. It also includes Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, a sport exhaust and 20-inch wheels with custom-developed Pirelli tires. The GranTurismo convertible has nearly the same interior arrangement as the GranTurismo coupe, but with a canvas soft top that can be opened automatically in just 24 seconds. Convertible models also have the same amount of trunk space whether the top is up or down -- which distinguishes it from models with folding-hardtop arrangements. All GranTurismo models come with automatic climate control, cruise control, keyless entry, real wood trim, heated seats and mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, headlight washers, power seats (memory for the driver) and a park-assist system, plus Bluetooth hands-free capability, voice recognition and steering-wheel audio controls in a Bose 11-speaker SurroundStage premium audio system. Buyers can choose from a long list of color combinations for the GranTurismo; there are six colors for the roof alone, with three interior choices and ten different colors available for the Poltrana Frau Leather seats. Carpet and contrasting stitching are offered in six different colors and a perfectly coordinated luggage set is also available.
